A Debate -- The Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby Decision: Was It Rightly Decided?  And What Does It Mean for the Future of Religious Liberties Litigation?

Our two panelists – ACLU of Kentucky Legal Director William E. Sharp and University of Kentucky Professor of Law Paul Salamanca – will discuss the Supreme Court’s recent landmark decision, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.   The panelists will debate a number of topics: whether Justice Alito’s opinion for the majority correctly interpreted and applied the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), the merits of the dissenting justices’ criticisms of the majority opinion, and what Burwell portends for the future of religious liberties litigation.”

Speakers: William D. Sharp, ACLU of Kentucky and Paul Salamanca, University of Kentucky
