The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 14 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. As an active member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals, Legal Secretaries of Louisville and the Association of Legal Administrators, David has the knowledge to connect you with the right individual or firm.

Thank you for considering the LBA's Placement Service for assistance in your candidate search. All of our candidates are pre-screened personally by our placement director. The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at dmohr@loubar.org.
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.
  5. Please feel free to contact David for more information regarding the placement fee, which is MUCH lower than other staffing firms—and LBA members receive a 50 percent discount!

LITIGATION PARALEGAL –  The LBA Placement Service is currently working with a downtown, full-service law firm that represents a wide variety of businesses, financial institutions and individual clients in the areas of; litigation, corporate and business law, real estate, employment law, intellectual property, bankruptcy and financial restructuring, domestic relations, estate planning and taxation. They are seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to help support their busy practice. Salary is based on experience, plus benefits and a 40 hour work week most weeks.

LITIGATION ATTORNEY - Established east end law firm with an emphasis in civil litigation is seeking as associate attorney with 2-5 years of general litigation experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills, a strong work ethic, strong legal analysis abilities, and will have the ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines. Candidate must be currently licensed to practice in Kentucky, and first-hand experience with complex litigation is desired. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

PART-TIME LEGAL ASSISTANT- Small downtown law firm is currently seeking a part time Legal Assistant to work either 3 days per week, (5-6 hrs per day) or 4 days per week (approx. 4 hours per day). The client is busier the first part of the week and would prefer more coverage on those days. Duties include; typing, filing motions, client contact, filing, use of Courtnet, etc. He is looking to pay approx. $15 per hour, depending on candidate/experience. Parking is paid.

RECEPTIONIST/ADMIN. ASST. / BULLITT COUNTY – A small law firm located in Shepherdsville, KY is seeking an outgoing, organized and self-motivated individual to serve as an Administrative Asst./Receptionist. The hours are 9-5 on Monday, 9-3 Tue-Thur and 9-1 on Friday.  Duties include; answering the phones, light intake, scheduling, preparing conference rooms, processing mail, scanning documents, printing and preparing some documents, updating client contact info, prepare initial consult packets, etc. Client is thinking $12-$14 per hour to start, but it depends on candidate. Family friendly atmosphere located right off I-65 South at Shepherdsville exit. Free parking at building.

LEGAL ASSISTANT – Established east end law firm with an emphasis in civil defense litigation is looking for a full time legal assistant to work with two new attorneys who have recently joined the firm. Job requirements include preparing pleadings, scheduling hearings and depositions, opening mail, communicating with court staff, court reporters, calendaring and data entry. 1-3 years of experience is preferred. Experience using MS Office is necessary, along with PC Law or other similar timekeeping/management software. Salary negotiable depending on experience. Benefits offered.

CRIMINAL INTAKE CLERK - The LBA is currently working with a criminal defense office that needs assistance in their intake department. Candidate will be assisting with the initial write up of the cases, data entry and records retention duties. Must have attention to detail, good penmanship and be dependable. Great entry-level position for someone looking to get a start in legal. Pay is approx. $11-$12 per hour to start. Full benefits are offered including; health, dental, retirement plan and paid time off. The hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Mon-Fri.

LITIGATION PARALEGAL - Established east end law firm with an emphasis in civil litigation is seeking a full-time litigation paralegal to support multiple attorneys. In addition to possessing strong technology skills, including command of the Microsoft Office suite, this individual must be highly motivated and detail oriented, possessing a positive and empathetic attitude. The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills. Candidate should have a minimum of two years of legal experience.  Litigation experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience answering discovery, summarizing medical records, and preparing routine motions. Salary negotiable depending on experience. Benefits offered.

CORPORATE PARALEGAL - The LBA Placement Service is currently seeking to fill a Corporate Paralegal position with a national Fortune 500 company that has an office on the east side of Louisville. The Corporate Paralegal will support the Legal Department primarily in the areas of administering corporate records, maintenance of corporate entity database management, state filings to maintain numerous company subsidiaries in good-standing, legal research and to perform all other tasks and special projects as may be assigned by the General Counsel, other company attorneys or the Manager, Corporate Compliance. Candidate should possess an Associates Degree, Paralegal Certificate or Bachelors Degree in Paralegal studies with 3+ years corporate paralegal experience preferred. Experience in corporate records management and entity organization a plus. Excellent benefits and competitive salary.

LITIGATION ATTORNEY - The LBA is currently working with a well-established, small downtown firm that is seeking an attorney for their busy litigation practice. They do both plaintiff and insurance defense work and prefer 2+ years of experience. Must have license to practice in Kentucky.  This is a great long-term opportunity to develop your own litigation practice within the firm. Compensation is based on candidate.
