The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 14 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. As an active member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals, Legal Secretaries of Louisville and the Association of Legal Administrators, David has the knowledge to connect you with the right individual or firm.

Thank you for considering the LBA's Placement Service for assistance in your candidate search. All of our candidates are pre-screened personally by our placement director. The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at dmohr@loubar.org.
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.
  5. Please feel free to contact David for more information regarding the placement fee, which is MUCH lower than other staffing firms—and LBA members receive a 50 percent discount!

PART-TIME LEGAL ASSISTANT - Small law firm located in downtown Louisville is currently in the market for a part-time legal assistant. They are seeking an experienced candidate to work approx. 20 hours per week supporting their general practice. The work hour as somewhat flexible, but they would prefer a candidate to work Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Duties include; answering phones, typing, scheduling and filing. Pay is based on experience. 

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY  – Well established plaintiffs litigation firm located on the east side of Louisville is currently in the market for an Associate Attorney. Practice consists of mostly insurance defense cases. Must be licensed by the KY Bar and have at least one to two years of related experience. Competitive salary with excellent benefits offered. 

LEGAL ASSISTANT  – The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and very detail oriented.  The candidate will help with review, typing and formatting of various types of documents, will answer the phones at the office, help the three attorneys manage their schedules, and manage the office for us.  The candidate will help the office facilitate the printing and submission of all bills/invoices to the client, but no bookkeeping or time entries required by the assistant.  We prefer a candidate with some litigation experience.  Education level is not mandatory, although high school and some college is preferred as a minimum, for us so long as the candidate is literate and competent with the skills required to accomplish the tasks required.  We are somewhat flexible on the hours.  We are looking for a minimum of 25 hours per week, up to full time of 40 per week.  The office is located in the east end, in Pewee Valley, so the individual will need to be able to commute to and from the office on their own daily.  If they hire a full time candidate they will be able to offer health insurance. Salary will be based on candidate.

PARALEGAL  – The LBA Placement Service is currently working with a small Probate/Estate Planning office located on the east side of Louisville. They are seeking a Paralegal that has some relative experience who can; open probate cases, prepare documents and pleadings related to probate, oversee docket schedule, dates and deadlines and manage client files in an organized way. This is a full-time permanent position offering a base pay plus a bonus based on billable hours. Work hours are 8:30-5:00.

FILE CLERK/RUNNER  – Medium size firm located in downtown Louisville is currently in the market for a sharp candidate with their own transportation to work either full-time or part-time as their File Clerk/Runner. Candidate will be in the office most of the day organizing and filing case files and performing clerical duties. At times the candidate will be required to run documents to the various courts or retrieve documents/information. Great opportunity for a college student, as flexibility with schedule is offered. Pay is based on candidate and benefits are based on hours. 

TAX / ACCOUNTING ATTORNEY  - Well established law firm with their office in downtown Louisville is currently seeking an Associate Attorney. They need a Kentucky Attorney with 2-3 years of tax experience. Salary is based on experience, plus excellent benefits offered. 

REAL ESTATE PARALEGAL - A well-established real estate closing/title office is currently in the market for 2 experienced closing paralegals with residential closing experience for both their east end location and southern Indiana location. Pay is based on experience plus full benefits.

PARALEGAL - Defense firm seeking litigation paralegal with at least two (2) years' experience for busy Insurance Defense practice.  Qualified candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Excel and Power Point; have assisted with trials, mediations and depositions; requested and analyzed records (medical, business, personnel, etc.); and, managed voluminous paper and electronic document productions. BANKRUPTCY LEGAL ASSISTANT - Well established downtown law firm in Louisville is currently in the market for a full-time legal assistant.
