The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 14 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. As an active member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals, Legal Secretaries of Louisville and the Association of Legal Administrators, David has the knowledge to connect you with the right individual or firm.

Thank you for considering the LBA's Placement Service for assistance in your candidate search. All of our candidates are pre-screened personally by our placement director. The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.

PART-TIME LEGAL ASSISTANT – The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a small law firm on the east side of Louisville, (Brownsboro Park Boulevard) that is seeking to add a part-time Legal Assistant/Receptionist. Client would like 25 hours per week, 5 days a week would be preferable, but could possibly do 4 days per week.  Duties include; answering phones, greeting clients, setting up files, scheduling, filing documents electronically, mail, prepare routine forms, screening potential clients, tracking information on cases, etc. The practice consists of; litigation, estate planning, probate, collections and personal injury.  Pay is based on candidate and experience.

LEGAL ASSISTANT  The LBA is currently working with a criminal defense office that is seeking to hire a full-time Legal Assistant. Candidate will be assisting several Attorneys with document production, calendar management, file management, etc. Must have attention to detail, excellent computer and typing skills (At least 50 wpm) and be dependable. Some experience is preferred but not necessary for someone sharp with good computer skills and perhaps legal education. Pay is approx. $12 per hour to start. Full benefits are offered including; health, dental, retirement plan and paid time off. The hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Mon-Fri.

BUSINESS LITIGATION ATTORNEY The LBA is currently working with a medium size firm located on the east side of Louisville who is seeking to hire a Litigation Attorney to join their Business Litigation team. This position will handle contract litigation, real estate litigation, insurance defense, products liability and other business litigation. Candidate must be licensed to practice in Kentucky and in good standing, as well as 2+ years of experience in litigation in state and federal courts. Candidate must also possess effective communication and research skill, as well as negotiation and reasoning skills. Our client offers a full benefits package that includes; health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability and 401K. This firm also has bonus plan for new business development activities and exceeding billable hour requirements. Salary based on candidate.

CRIMINAL INTAKE CLERK  The LBA is currently working with a criminal defense office that needs assistance in their intake department. Candidate will be assisting with the initial write up of the cases, data entry and records retention duties. Must have attention to detail, good penmanship and be dependable. Great entry-level position for someone looking to get a start in legal. Pay is approx. $12 per hour to start. Full benefits are offered including; health, dental, retirement plan and paid time off. The hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Mon-Fri.

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY  The LBA is currently working with a law firm located on the east side of Louisville that is seeking to add a new Attorney to their growing practice.  Their practice consists of a variety of defense work for public entities, and they frequently defend public service employee’s such as Police Officers, etc. They are seeking a candidate with at least two years of experience in civil defense work and licensed to practice in Kentucky. No new grads, unless they have years of related experience prior, as their ideal candidate will have 2-10+ years of experience as a practicing Attorney. No book of business needed, as there is plenty of work to keep the candidate busy. Salary is based on experience, plus incentive pay and full benefits, which includes payment of all license fees, CLE’s, organizational dues and liability insurance.

REAL ESTATE CLOSING ASSISTANT  The LBA is currently working with a small residential real estate closing office located in St. Matthews that is seeking to add a loan closing assistant. They are seeking an individual with outstanding clerical and organizational skills with attention to detail. Tasks will include preparation of title commitments, working with real estate agents, and loan originators. Prior real estate office experience would be preferred but not necessary for the right sharp individual. They would prefer a temp-to-perm situation, but may consider a direct hire for the right person. Salary based on candidate/experience.

FORECLOSURE LEGAL ASSISTANT – The LBA Placement Service is currently working with a small, established law firm in Floyd County Indiana that is in need of a full-time person to help with his foreclosure practice.  Candidate will do a combo of administrative stuff like copies and postage and filing, but with a cross over to doing some basic paralegal type stuff.  He will train so no specific experience needed other than knowing what a law firm is and some good work ethic.  Pay is based on experience, etc.
