The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 14 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. As an active member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals, Legal Secretaries of Louisville and the Association of Legal Administrators, David has the knowledge to connect you with the right individual or firm.

Thank you for considering the LBA's Placement Service for assistance in your candidate search. All of our candidates are pre-screened personally by our placement director. The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.
  5. Please feel free to contact David for more information regarding the placement fee, which is MUCH lower than other staffing firms—and LBA members receive a 50 percent discount!

LITIGATION LEGAL ASSISTANT - The LBA Placement Service is currently working with a Commercial Litigation law firm that specializes in employment law, estate and securities litigation, business disputes and more. They are seeking to hire a full-time Legal Secretary to help support their busy practice. Candidate must have several years of related experience, strong computer skills and experience with efiling. The firm offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including paid parking and bonus opportunities.

LEGAL ASSISTANT – East end Louisville law firm is seeking a full-time Assistant/Paralegal to work in a Plaintiff's Personal Injury practice. Seeking someone who is dependable, organized, experienced and detail oriented. Duties include answering phones, transcription, organizing files, preparing pleadings and maintaining calendar. Salary commensurate with experience. Bonus potential and 401K.

LEGAL ASSISTANT – Established downtown firm, with an emphasis in Medical Malpractice Defense Litigation, is looking for a full-time legal assistant to support their busy practice. Job requirements include preparing pleadings, scheduling hearings and depositions, opening mail, communicating with court staff, court reporters, calendaring and data entry. 2-3 years of experience is needed. Experience using MS Office is necessary. Salary negotiable depending on experience. Benefits offered.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE PARALEGAL – The LBA is currently working with the Louisville a Criminal Defense office seeking to fill a full-time (8:15-4:30, M-F) Paralegal position. Responsibilities include; local, state and federal document collection, case maintenance and trial preparation with recommendations to counsel based upon research of legal precedents, investigation and established facts of the case. The position also includes a variety of other professional duties that are routinely assigned by counsel for record depending upon the nature of the case and the requirements of the defense presentation. Paralegal degree or similar education and experience preferred, along with strong writing skills, knowledge of the legal system, effective communication and organizational abilities, initiative, creativity and a strong work ethic. Salary is commensurate with experience and competitive with other agencies in the criminal justice system. Excellent, comprehensive benefits are provided to all full-time employees.

CIVIL LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY – A mid-sized law firm based in Louisville KY, is seeking a litigation attorney for its Louisville office. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of complex civil litigation experience. Excellent salary based on candidate, plus benefits.

PART-TIME RECEPTIONIST/LEGAL ASSISTANT – The LBA is currently working with a small law firm located on the east side of Louisville that’s in need of a part-time Receptionist/Legal Assistant to work approx. 20-25 hours per week, (4-5 days per week in the morning to early afternoon). Duties include answering phones, typing, filing, etc. Pay is negotiable depending on experience.

CORPORATE PARALEGAL – The LBA is currently working with a medium size, downtown Louisville law firm that is seeking to hire a full-time Paralegal to help support their Corporate Group. Must have a couple years of related experience and a strong work ethic. This is a full time position with pay based on candidate/experience, plus benefits.

CRIMINAL INTAKE CLERK - The LBA is currently working with a criminal defense office that needs assistance in their intake department. Candidate will be assisting with the initial write up of the cases, data entry and records retention duties. Must have attention to detail, good penmanship and be dependable. Great entry-level position for someone looking to get a start in legal. Pay is approx. $11-$12 per hour to start. Full benefits are offered including; health, dental, retirement plan and paid time off. The hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Mon-Fri.

CORPORATE LAW LEGAL ASSISTANT – The LBA is currently working with a large downtown law firm seeking to add a Legal Assistant to their Corporate Law Practice Group to support 3 Attorneys. Candidate should be a seasoned Legal Assistant with excellent organizational and computer skills. Corporate law or similar experience desired. This is a full-time position with excellent pay and benefits.
