The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 14 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. As an active member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals, Legal Secretaries of Louisville and the Association of Legal Administrators, David has the knowledge to connect you with the right individual or firm.

Thank you for considering the LBA's Placement Service for assistance in your candidate search. All of our candidates are pre-screened personally by our placement director. The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at dmohr@loubar.org.
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.
  5. Please feel free to contact David for more information regarding the placement fee, which is MUCH lower than other staffing firms—and LBA members receive a 50 percent discount!

LEGAL ASSISTANT – Established downtown firm, with an emphasis in Medical Malpractice Defense Litigation, is looking for a full-time legal assistant to support their busy practice. Job requirements include preparing pleadings, scheduling hearings and depositions, opening mail, communicating with court staff, court reporters, calendaring and data entry. 2-3 years of experience is needed. Experience using MS Office is necessary. Salary negotiable depending on experience. Benefits offered.

PERSONAL INJURY/MED. MAL. PARALEGAL – Small but growing firm located off Shelbyville Rd. is seeking a full-time Paralegal to support their Plaintiff’s practice. They are seeking someone with several years of plaintiff’s litigation experience, as well as some medical background (education/experience). Ability to speak Spanish would be a plus! This is a full-time position that pays well for the right candidate.

CASE MANAGER / PARALEGAL – The LBA is currently working with a small downtown law firm that is seeking to hire a pre-litigation case manager/paralegal for their personal injury practice. Degree is not necessary but would prefer law firm experience. Personal Injury experience preferred. The hours are 9-5:30, M-F and pay is based on experience. Benefits include; Health, Dental, retirement and parking.

CIVIL LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY  A rapidly growing civil litigation law firm located on the east side of Louisville is seeking a hard-working, intelligent attorney that is looking for a long-term career. They prefer an attorney with 2+ years of litigation defense experience. As an Associate Attorney, you would work as part of a team to manage the defense of client's claims from inception to resolution. Must be licensed in KY and in good standings and have excellent references. Excellent salary based on candidate, plus benefits.

PART-TIME RECEPTIONIST/LEGAL ASSISTANT – The LBA is currently working with a small law firm located on the east side of Louisville that’s in need of a part-time Receptionist/Legal Assistant to work approx. 20-25 hours per week, (4-5 days per week in the morning to early afternoon). Duties include answering phones, typing, filing, etc. Pay is negotiable depending on experience.

SUBROGATION / BANKRUPTCY PARALEGAL / LEGAL ASSISTANT  The LBA is currently working with an established law firm located near the Crescent Hill area that has a heavy Subrogation and Bankruptcy practice. They are currently seeking to add an additional Paralegal. They can look at a sharp entry-level candidate to train or someone with experience. Pay is based on candidate/experience, plus health benefits, retirement with a 3% match, PTO, etc.

SPANISH SPEAKING ATTORNEY  Multi-state law firm based out Louisville is currently seeking to add a bilingual Attorney with a general knowledge of law to their practice. Their practice is varied but is heaviest in Personal Injury and Business Law. Candidate must have a license to practice in KY, but a dual license in Kentucky and Indiana would be a plus. Salary based on candidate plus benefits.

CRIMINAL INTAKE CLERK – The LBA is currently working with a criminal defense office that needs assistance in their intake department. Candidate will be assisting with the initial write up of the cases, data entry and records retention duties. Must have attention to detail, good penmanship and be dependable. Great entry-level position for someone looking to get a start in legal. Pay is approx. $11-$12 per hour to start. Full benefits are offered including; health, dental, retirement plan and paid time off. The hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Mon-Fri.

FORECLOSURE PARALEGAL  The LBA is currently working with a small law firm located in Floyd County Indiana that’s looking for a Paralegal to support one Attorney with his foreclosure practice.  Candidate does not have to have foreclosure experience but must have pleadings background and be a hard worker. They can train on the specifics. Salary is based on candidate/experience, plus benefits.
