The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 20 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. The Louisville Bar Association is currently looking to fill the following positions:

LEGAL ASSISTANT - Medium size civil defense law office is currently seeking a full-time legal assistant. The ideal candidate would have workers comp experience or similar defense background. Candidate should have good computer proficiency, transcription experience, ability to maintain file organization, and the ability to multitask and change direction on the fly. Salary is based on experience and benefits include; paid parking, 401K match dollar for dollar up to 5%, health, dental, vision, and life insurance. 

DEFENSE LITIGATION ATTORNEY: The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a civil litigation firm, located on the east side of Louisville that primarily does insurance subrogation and defense litigation. This office offers a great career opportunity for an Attorney to obtain litigation experience. They would prefer one to two years of experience with civil litigation, but will consider other applicants. The salary is commensurate with level of experience, with potential for pay raises and percentage-based pay in future years. They also pay malpractice insurance, agreed upon CLEs, and two weeks paid vacation (eligible for one week after six months; two weeks after a year of employment).

FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY - The LBA Placement Service is currently working with a well-established boutique law firm located off Westport Road that has a varied practice. They are currently seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney with at least 5 years’ experience to join the practice. Must be a licensed Kentucky Attorney in good standings with a solid reputation. Salary is based on experience, plus benefits and perks.

LEGAL ASSISTANT – Established defense litigation law firm located in downtown Louisville is currently seeking a full-time Legal Assistant. A minimum of 2-3 years legal experience is preferred. Civil litigation experience is a plus. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and have a proactive work ethic. Proficiency in Word, Microsoft Outlook, good typing speed with digital transcription experience required. Other duties include, but are not limited to, typing, formatting, editing and finalizing legal documents, making travel arrangements, scanning, interfacing with clients, file and calendar maintenance, scheduling, filing and general secretarial duties as assigned. PARLEGAL OR LEGAL ASSISTANT - The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a mid-size, downtown litigation defense firm that is seeking to add both a full-time paralegal and a legal assistant with at least 1 – 2 years’ experience in Healthcare, Medical Malpractice or Personal Injury litigation.  The ability to work in a group setting, share responsibilities with others and excellent computer skills are a must for either position. For the paralegals, excellent organizational and writing skills are necessary.  Pay for either position is based on experience, plus benefits and paid parking.

FAMILY LAW LEGAL ASSISTANT OR PARALEGAL - The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a well-established, mid-size, downtown law office that is currently seeking to add both a Family Law Legal Assistant or Paralegal, as well as a Corporate/Estate Planning Legal Assistant or Paralegal. Both positions are full-time. Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience offering support in a legal office. Competitive pay and full benefits offered.

BANKRUPTCY PARALEGAL/ASSISTANT - The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a small law office centrally located near the Bowman Field, that is seeking to hire a full-time Paralegal to help support their bankruptcy practice.  Obviously, bankruptcy experience is preferred, but other legal experience and/or legal education will be considered.  Competitive pay based on experience is offered. 

LEGAL ASSISTANT - The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a well-established Louisville law office that practices commercial and contract law. They are seeking to hire a full-time legal assistant to support a Senior Partner with the following duties: drafting pleadings and correspondence, organizing documents, managing calendar, e-filing through Courtnet, etc.  Law firm support and e-filing experience is preferred. Salary based on experience, plus benefits. Office location is east of downtown and free parking at building.

LEGAL ASSISTANT -  The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a medium size, downtown law office with a defense litigation practice. They are seeking to add an experienced Legal Assistant to their firm. Experience with Medical Malpractice or Nursing Home Defense would be a strong plus, but other litigation experience will be considered. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits.

PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEY - Well-established Louisville area law office is seeking a litigation attorney with a minimum of two years personal injury experience, who will also offer some pre-litigation support. If you are excited by the prospect of fighting for justice and making money for everyone, including yourself, this is your job. Candidate must be licensed in Indiana and enjoy working as a team member. Licensed in Kentucky is a plus. Type: Full-time Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time off • Referral program • Vision insurance.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE PARALEGAL – The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a downtown criminal defense office that is seeking a full-time paralegal with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Paralegal studies, strong research skills, knowledge of the adversary legal system and the defense role and function in that system, the ability to work in a group setting, share responsibilities with other paralegals and excellent organizational and writing skills are necessary for the position.  Hourly pay, plus benefits.

FORECLOSURE ATTORNEY – The LBA is currently working with a multi-state law office that is seeking to add an Attorney to their Louisville KY office. The firm specializes in real estate matters and representing mortgage lenders. Primary duties will include real estate transactions and foreclosure litigation in the state of Kentucky. Competitive salary with excellent benefits offered. 

CRIMINAL INTAKE CLERK - The LBA is currently working with a criminal defense office that needs assistance in their intake department. Candidate will be assisting with the initial write up of the cases, data entry and records retention duties. Must have attention to detail, good penmanship and be dependable. Great entry-level position for someone looking to get a start in legal. Starting pay is around $30,000, plus full benefits are offered including; health, dental, retirement plan and paid time off. The hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Mon-Fri.

FORECLOSURE PARALEGAL – The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a well-established foreclosure law firm located on the east side of Louisville that’s in need of a full-time person to help with their practice. Candidate will perform Paralegal duties to work an account from start through finish of Foreclosure process. The firm is willing to train, so no specific experience needed other than a legal education and strong work ethic, but if you have such experience it would be preferred. Pay is based on experience, plus full benefits.

The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at dmohr@loubar.org.
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.
