The Louisville Bar Association Diversity & Inclusion Committee proudly presents "Celebrate Black History: Experiences of Black Women in the Law." This event aims to honor the achievements, resilience and contributions of Black women in the legal profession, shedding light on their unique journeys, challenges, and triumphs.

Moderator Michelle L. Duncan, Partner at Dinsmore & Shohl, and Co-Chair of the LBA Diversity & Inclusion Committee, will lead the discussion with her expertise and passion for fostering inclusivity in the legal community.

Our distinguished panel of speakers includes KY Court of Appeals Judge Pamela R. Goodwine, a trailblazing candidate for the Kentucky Supreme Court. If elected, she will make history as the first Black woman to sit on the state's highest court and only the fifth person and the first woman to serve at all levels of the judiciary in Kentucky.  With an impressive career, Judge Goodwine will share her experiences, insights, and aspirations for the future.

We are honored to have Judge Denise Clayton, the first Black woman to serve on both the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Jefferson Circuit Courts, as part of our esteemed lineup. Judge Clayton's wealth of experience and wisdom will provide valuable perspectives on breaking barriers and creating a more inclusive legal landscape.

We are also privileged to welcome Judge Jessica E. Green, the second Black woman to preside over the Jefferson Circuit Court. Judge Green's journey and achievements underscore the importance of diversity and representation in the judiciary.

This event promises an engaging discussion on the triumphs and challenges faced by Black women in the legal profession, highlighting the strides made and the work yet to be done. Join us for a time of celebration, education and inspiration as we honor the invaluable contributions of Black women in shaping the legal field.
