Kentucky State and Federal Appellate Courts — Explaining Appellate Court Operations Under COVID-19 Restrictions

Panelists: Judge John Bush, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals; Kentucky Court of Appeals Chief Judge Denise Clayton; Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Lisabeth Hughes; Kelly Stephens, Clerk of the Supreme Court of Kentucky; Rebecca Combs Lyon, Clerk of the Kentucky Court of Appeals; and Danny Coleman, Counsel to the Clerk at the Kentucky Court of Appeals.

Recent “social distancing” orders from Governor Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Supreme Court have profoundly impacted the operation of state and federal appellate courts in Kentucky.   On Tuesday, May 5, please join Kentucky Supreme Court Deputy Chief Justice Lisabeth Hughes, Judge Clayton, Judge Bush, Ms. Lyon, Ms. Stephens, and Mr. Coleman for an online “panel” discussion of how the Kentucky appellate courts as well as the Sixth Circuit are managing their current cases.  Topics of the discussion will include the current operations of the courts, best practices for attorneys with active cases, and the judges’ views on how “social distancing” might affect litigation practice in the near and long terms.  Viewers of the panel will have an opportunity to type in questions for the judges to answer.

This panel is presented by the Louisville Bar Association’s Litigation Section, free of charge for live viewers.
