The Louisville Bar Association Placement Service matches area law firms seeking qualified attorneys and legal support staff with the appropriate employees. The service refers attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals, receptionists and other legal support staff for full and part-time employment.

Placement Director David Mohr is well versed in the legal market with 20 years of legal staffing experience, in addition to 10 years of prior paralegal experience. The Louisville Bar Association is currently looking to fill the following positions:

LITIGATION PARALEGAL - The LBA Placement Service is currently working with a growing medical defense trial firm located on the east side of Louisville that is looking for a skilled litigation paralegal to join their team. The successful candidate will provide assistance during all phases of the litigation process including gathering medical records, answering discovery, work with clients, meet various deadlines, write reports/memos, analyze records, help prepare for trial, attend trial, etc. Responsibilities include; claim investigations, legal research, and assist with initial case assessments. Assist with the drafting of pleadings, motions, and appellate documents. Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.). Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices. Aid attorneys with discovery requests and production of documents. Gather relevant information from a variety of sources. Summarize documents for use by attorneys and clients. Competitive salary with full benefits offered for the appropriate candidate.

LEGAL ASSISTANT – The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a well-established downtown Louisville law office that has a varied practice. They are seeking to hire a full-time Legal Assistant with at least 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant to support their Estate Planning practice. Candidate must have excellent typing, organizational and computer skills. Competitive pay and benefits offered for the right candidate.

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY WITH SHAREHOLDER PATH - The LBA's Placement Service is currently working with a centrally located Louisville law office, that is seeking an associate attorney to help support their Creditor’s Rights practice areas, such as bankruptcy, foreclosure, and litigation. The individual will be making appearances at court both here in Jefferson County and out in the state. While the firm would consider a new graduate, experience preferred, and the right candidate will be put on track to become equity shareholder in the firm.  This is a full-time position with salary, potential bonuses, health insurance, and other benefits. Salary is compensatory to experience.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE PARALEGAL - The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a medium size firm located downtown that is seeking to hire a full-time Paralegal to support their Medical Malpractice practice. Must have past experience working in litigation law firm, be proficient in editing and formatting legal pleadings, be proficient in electronic filing with the court's electronic filing system, be proficient in Outlook regarding emails and scheduling for multiple attorneys, have knowledge of paperless document storage/file management, be proficient in adobe (combining documents, extracting, bates labeling, exporting for document production). Must have knowledge regarding requesting medical records/review/organization of same, must have knowledge with excel spreadsheets.

Position requires ability to prioritize and multi-task, with attention to detail.

FORECLOSURE ATTORNEY – The LBA is currently working with a multi-state law office that is seeking to add an Attorney to their Louisville KY office. The firm specializes in real estate matters and representing mortgage lenders. Primary duties will include real estate transactions and foreclosure litigation in the state of Kentucky. Competitive salary with excellent benefits offered. 

DEFENSE ATTORNEY - The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a medium size law office in downtown Louisville that is seeking to hire both a seasoned Attorney that can handle cases with minimal supervision, as well as a newer Attorney.  The firm primarily has a civil defense practice consisting of insurance defense type cases.  The seasoned Attorney candidate must have at least 4+ years of experience with civil litigation in Kentucky. The newer Attorney can be a recent graduate to 2+ years of any experience. Excellent salary based on experience, plus bonus opportunities.

REAL ESTATE PARALEGAL – The LBA’s Placement Service is currently working with a well-established law office located on the east side of Louisville that is seeking a candidate with at least 3 years of experience in residential closings. Duties include; drafting Closing Disclosures, coordinating with realtors and lenders and drafting deeds. Commercial closing experience is a plus.  Experience with Softpro software is also a plus. Full time or part time considered.  Salary is commensurate with experience. Paid health insurance and retirement matching provided for full time employees (waiting periods apply). 

PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEY - The LBA's Placement Service is currently working with a boutique law office located in historic Old Louisville that is seeking an Associate Attorney to handle plaintiff personal injury cases. Candidate must be licensed and in good standing with the Kentucky State Bar. Have superior analytical, legal research and writing skills. Ability to think creatively and strategically. Exceptional organizational skills, including time management. Strong interpersonal skills and a can-do-attitude. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Daily tasks include: Manage a significant caseload and work closely with the case managers and Paralegals. Organizing cases from filing of complaint through jury trial. Prepare written discovery with the client. Conduct potential new client intake and consultations. Communicate and convey legal concepts and strategies to clients and opposing counsel. Regularly attend motion hearings, depositions and mediations.  Develop skills and understanding of the personal injury litigation process. Assist in negotiations, settlements and mediations.

Hands-on experience and training for those sharp candidates who may need it. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The screening process includes a personal interview, education and bar standing verification, testing where applicable and reference checks. Should a candidate not appear to be a good recommendation, he or she will not be submitted to our clients.

The process by which we perform the candidate search goes as follows:

  1. Those interested should e-mail a job description, including work hours, salary, benefits offered, a brief description of job duties, and experience and education level desired of the candidates to Placement Director David Mohr at dmohr@loubar.org.
  2. David will then search his database of candidates for those who fill the specified requirements and are actively seeking employment. He will also advertise and recruit for the position.
  3. Once he has found a suitable group of candidates (i.e., only those who appear to meet the qualifications needed to perform the job), David will submit, to you, the resumes of those individuals.
  4. If you choose to hire a candidate unassociated with the LBA Placement Service, you owe nothing. If you do hire a candidate provided by the LBA, we will generate an invoice for the placement after verifying he or she is performing well as an employee of your firm. Should that candidate not work out for any reason within 45 days of placement, we will restart the recruiting and interview efforts to replace that candidate at no extra charge.
