A reservation is required in advance of the program. Registrants will receive a confirmation e-mail the day before the event which will contain a link to join the meeting via Zoom and attachments of the handout material and CLE activity code and instruction on how to file with the Ky Bar Association (PDF files).

The program will review family law-related case law rendered by the Kentucky Supreme Court and Court of Appeals during 2020 and family law-related legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. Of specific note, the program will discuss the Kentucky Supreme Court's decision in Commonwealth v. K.S. regarding state funds for expert witnesses in dependency, neglect, and abuse cases; its decision in Greene v. Boyd concerning the admission of friend of court reports; and its declaration in Pinto v. Robison that portions of the grandparent visitation statute are unconstitutional. The program will be led by Dorislee Gilbert, attorney and Executive Director at the Mary Byron Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing justice to end intimate partner violence. Dorislee has more than a decade's experience in appellate advocacy and has handled more than 75 cases in Kentucky's appellate courts. She also leads the Mary Byron Project's Appellate Advocacy Program, which provides appellate legal representation to survivors of intimate partner violence at no cost.
