Dependency, abuse and neglect cases are a challenging combination of adjudication, treatment orders and permanency decisions. This seminar will focus on the adjudication process with presentations on applicable federal and state law and evidence issues in DNA cases. Sessions will be offered to judges, prosecutors, parent attorneys, GALs and social workers, with an emphasis on drug testing issues, changes in role of GALs, effective representation of indigent parents and testimony prep for social workers. This seminar will also address ethical obligations to victims of domestic violence and immigrants who are accused of abuse and neglect of their children.
