The Legal Aid Society has announced dates for free legal clinics offered during the month of May.

WHAT: FORECLOSURE CLINIC
WHEN: Thursday, May 9, at 4:00 PM
WHERE: Legal Aid Society office (416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.)
PURPOSE:Attorneys will be on hand to answer questions about foreclosures and provide advice on alternatives to foreclosure.

WHAT: EXPUNGEMENT CLINIC
WHEN: Monday, May 13, at 3:00 PM
WHERE: YouthBuild (800 S. Preston St.)
PURPOSE: An attorney will be on hand to discuss the expungement process and which charges can be expunged. Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their criminal record which shows the disposition of each case. A copy of the record may be obtained from Court Archives located in the basement of the Old Jail Building at 514 West Liberty Street in Louisville.

WHAT: PROPERTY TAX LIEN CLINIC
WHEN: Saturday, May 18, at 1:30 PM
WHERE: Shively Community Center (3920 Dixie Hwy.)
PURPOSE: A Legal Aid Society attorney will be on hand to offer counsel regarding past due property taxes. A Jefferson County Attorney will be available to work out payment agreement on 2012 property tax bills before they are offered for sale to third-parties. Other services include help filing for Homestead or Disability Exemptions, connection with a job coach, and resources for senior citizens.
