“A Class Apart”
From a small-town Texas murder emerged a landmark civil rights case. The documentary focuses on a little-known story of a team of Mexican-American lawyers, assembled by Gus Garcia (left), who took Hernandez v. Texas to the United States Supreme Court, challenging Jim Crow-style discrimination. It would be the first time a Mexican-American appeared before the Supreme Court.
Additionally, a Latino Legal Clinic has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 1 from 4-6 p.m. at Wesley House Community Services. If you are interested in volunteering for our clinics, please contact Kate Lindsay at firstname.lastname@example.org or (502) 583-5314.
